* Message from Fr Fernando

Dear Parishioners,

I write to you in a time of grievous distress and challenges for this faith community, the nation and the whole world. Be assured that Saint Jerome Church remains open daily for individual visits: 8am to 4pm. In the mornings we set out the Blessed Sacrament for adoration. Individual confessions are heard on Saturdays at 4pm, or by appointment, in the Reconciliation Chapel. A “Social Distancing” protocol is in place and posted outside the chapel for your convenience. Priests over the age of sixty (60) are asked to refrain from administering the Sacraments of Penance and Anointing of the Sick in homes or hospitals. The “younger” priests are asked to fulfill this pastoral duty, with all due precautions and contact protocols. Unfortunately, we may have to yield to additional medical protocols. Please understand about distances established by medical personnel attending to you and/or your loved ones. It protects you and the priest.

Be assured of our prayers and good counsel. Please reach me at my cell phone: (510) 593-0870 for urgent needs. I continue to serve at funerals when Catholic Funeral Services beckons. Your prayers and financial support of Saint Jerome Parish are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you to all who continue to respond and correspond with your time, talent and treasure.

Fr. Fernando Cortez and all the Pastoral Staff
