* the Magi Group

Greetings, parishioners and friends of Saint Jerome’s Parish!  This winter, we are launching a new weekly faith sharing opportunity which I am calling “the Magi Group”, after the three magi, or wise ones, who left home and followed a star in search of the newborn king of the Jews, Jesus.

We will meet virtually every Wednesday evening from 6 to 7:15 pm PST starting on January 20.

Here are some of the activities that will make up our weekly hour together:

  • Viewing excerpts from the videos of Bishop Robert Barron, a leading figure in at current efforts in Catholic evangelization
  • Sharing the reading and discussion of short inspirational texts chosen by Father Dave
  • Learning to do “Lectio Divina”, “holy reading”, which is different from merely reading a text but which is focused on letting God speak to us though a text
  • Exploring topics proposed by the group, e.g., the relationship of religion and science, the teaching of the Church on particular issues, etc.
